Video reflection

This video was taken to advertise an imaginary movie named “Harry Topper” which we made and the movie imitates “Harry Potter.” It tells people that the movie is very attractive and interesting, and the message is that in 2014 the movie will be published. The audience can get this information from the words in the video of ‘2014’ and ‘He will return.’
We used some techniques in our video. We titled the movie “Harry Topper” because it imitates “Harry Potter” and this is humor as one technique. In addition, we devised the camera angle and brightness of the scenes. For example, the scene in the library, was taken from above and chosen because it is a dark place. Moreover, we used two songs as background music: “Hedwig’s Theme by John Williams and Patrick Doyle, and "Star Trek Main Theme" by Michael Giacchino.  We chose the first song because it is used in the real film so we thought that using this song would make our video more attractive for the audience. The second one was chosen because it is a magnificent song and we thought it would hold the audience in suspense. This song is used in the fighting scene in our video, so it is suitable for the scene.
The target audience is in particular people who like Science Fiction and students because this story is about magic and school life.
Viewers who do not know Harry Potter can imagine how the real story will go on and others who already know the story can enjoy comparing the real film and this one.
The movie company of Harry Potter, Warner Brothers, can get benefits from this video, because this video was made by imitating the real story. In other words, spreading this video can be used to advertise the real movie so the company can get new customers. On the other hand, the company may receive some negative influence by this video because this is a fake story, so they may worry that people who are unfamiliar with the original one will misunderstand the real story. Moreover, the songs that we used in our video have copyright, so using the songs is connected to the problem. That is why the company might censor this video as corporate censorship.
To make this video, we wrote the script, prepared the costumes and items, practiced reading, filmed the scenes and edited it. We wrote the conversation frankly because it is students’ daily conversation. Also, we read the script again and again before taking the video. Through this work, we could learn the daily conversation in English and practice English pronunciation and intonation. In addition, we could reflect on the techniques and censorship in media. We would like to keep practicing speaking in English to improve our skill and to continue to be interested in the media.

Reflection

Valentine’s day is coming, so we decided to make a valentine commercial, and we want people to appreciate to their important people on Valentine’s Day by watching this video. Therefore, The content of this video is about valentine and many people are appreciating to their necessary people, for example, family, friends, and lovers with present in this video. Target audience of this video is almost for young girls but it can be effective for all people who want to say thanks.
The video might benefit for both who present and accept presents. In addition, Sweets companies would receive huge benefit. Also, Singer whose song was used in this video might have much benefit too.
On the other hand, those who were not presented or were expected to present sweets or something might feel nervous on this video.
However, definitely, many people would feel like giving thanks with presents to somebody important. Also, Boys might think that girls would present something to them
To make this video more attractive, we used girls liking and up beat music which make people feel like exciting. Furthermore, to make empathaize to this video, we used many general people as actors giving presents
At last, this video does not have special censorship, but it might apply religion censorship that is strict for women

Reflection:
If we had to express the content of the video in one word, it would be “fun”. We made our classmates surprised, and it can be divided into two parts as you can see.
Our purpose is to provide enjoyment and make people laugh. In reality, to have fun is not that easy in such a stressful society these days, and moreover, almost all the students tend to feel tired because of too much work that requires them to make efforts. However laughing is one of the best ways to get relaxed and live without stress. That is why we filmed this video. At the same time, this reason can be a main message of our video, so it is natural that the target audience is those who are tired, feel bad and need to be refreshed, such as students and businessmen. Not only those targets but also people in this video benefit both before and after the video is uploaded. While this video was being taken, they were able to have fun even though they were tricked. After the movie will be published, they might become famous. On the other hand, some of the targets might be harmed because they dislike being made fun of. Some audience who simply hates those kinds of surprise feels uncomfortable. Also staff that works at the campus can be irritated or disappointed when they notice students soiled a floor. Since there are surely those people, we left out the fact that our video has possibility to provide something unpleasant.
To make our video much more effective and exciting, we used three main techniques. Before showing the actual reaction, we demonstrated what we were going to do, and we put subtitles at the bottom of the screen. These two techniques are for making it clearer and easier to understand. The last one that we used is animation when the each scene changed, for example ‘shrinking’, ‘growing’, ‘falling’ and ‘crossfading’. Thanks to this, the connection of the each scene has become smoother, and furthermore the video has turned into attractive one.
In connection with the video, it is obvious that to think about censorship is necessary. In our case, teachers and parents might feel like censoring the video because they do not want to let their students or children imitate what we did in our video. People who happen to show up in the video also wish to censor it to protect their privacy.

We would like to share this nice video with you on blog, Youtube and Facebook.

We made this video which tells the audiences the danger of addicting cell phone.

The censorship of this video is two-fold: moral and corporate one. Our theme is “Do not be addicted to your cell phone”. In commercial terms, some companies making smart phone or some companies making application software for smart phone might expect they would receive criticism, so they would censor our video.
Then, we raised some examples that expressed the dangerous risks by using smart phone. The first scene is that two people are using their cell phone while they are talking. They both concentrate on their own actions even if they have a conversation, so they might decrease their communication skills.
The second scene is that two people crashed because they could not notice each other’s approaching, for they both used their smart phone and listened to the music with cell phone.
The third scene is in the library. Two people were studying but one of them was starting to use her smart phone with noticing her cell phone rang.
The last scene is in the class room. Two students did not listen to the teacher’s comments. Then, one student was pointed out by teacher, but he could not answer the question because he focused on his cell phone.

When we edit our video, we considered a good way to tell the audiences the main message. We sometimes used closed-up photos to emphasize ‘two students are using their cell phone’

Reflection

We made a video which makes people think about their behavior in dairy life. The behavior means that you are likely to judge people around you just by their way of look.

For example, a man, George, in this video has a mental disability and his sister, Rachel, hided him from the society, because she thought he would be her disadvantage. She believes that he would cause negative effects to her.

We decided to make this kind of video because we want to tell you people’s unconscious discrimination occurring every day, so target audience is everyone. People who are discriminated can get benefit from our video, because other people may treat those people more nicely by watching the video, and we believe you will change the way of thinking towards people who have disability. We showed the hidden message by Miku’s action and expression in the video; she acted like general people who must behave like her. She tried to exclude the people such as George. However, we want audience to reflect on behave daily life. Then, we attempt to be conscious of our attitude.

This video is probably going to be shared on Youtube. It depends on people how interpret our video, and we think its content can be fact or opinion. We thought the sources are based on our daily life, because we face many these kinds of situation.
We used some of the techniques and one of the techniques is explaining how this story started with subtitles to make audience understand this story easily.

From the point of the censorship, the people who have a mind like us might censor this video. There are many people who feel something we have to change, especially people having a justice or human moral, in the world. However, we tend to behave like Rachel in the video, because we do really care about how we are seen by people around us, but we have to notice this is wrong. We hope this video have an influence on people’s mind.

Don’t judge the people by the way of look.

Twe Minutes Sushi Cooking

Izumi, Moe, Kazuki

We made a cooking video about Japanese traditional food, sushi. The reason why we made this video is that we were interested in the mystery of taste and we want to entertain many people with sharing  tye new idea of making sushi. The target audience is foreigners who love sushi. We uploaded the video on youtube, so all of the people in the world can watch it. In this video, we made three kinds of sushi with easily available ingredients which are not real ingredients of sushi, so the sushi we made is actually fake sushi, but they taste real sushi. It showed that you can make sushi easily and quickly, and you can enjoy tasting real sushi with things you have at home. We used some techniques: using subtitle to make people who watch this video understand contents easier, using background music and some effects such as fade out, lightning, cutting, and so on to attract audience, and as camera work, zooming in hands and foods to show the details of cooking. This video might bring benefit to people whowant to eat sushi and people who are not good at cooking because it intriduces easy way to make sushi. However, we did not show the fact that these sushi are not real, so Japanese sushi companies like Sushiro, and Kappazushi might be harmed and censor this video.

Video Reflection By Sae, Yukihiro and Haruya

“Stand up!!”

We took a video named “Stand up!!” . The title is based on our main massage and purpose, which is making someone more confident and cheerful. In this video, the main character (Haruya) had a hard time because his friend did nasty things to him. However, he did not give way to the person, and gets cheerful with a song of Michel Jackson. We decided to record the video outside because the dancer should have been active, and indoor environment was not good enough to express our ideas, we thought, and because most of the classrooms in the university have been occupied during the day. About the roles, Haruya acted a weak boy, Yukihiro a bullying man, and Sae a kind classmate. The target audience is those who are the same generation as us and those not so confident. Our video can encourage the people, and they can benefit from it because they can see that a weak person has an opportunity to challenge him/herself. The song for our video is “Beat It” by Michael Jackson. Thinking of bad effects, some of his fans might feel annoyed by the actor’s dance because it is not as good as Michael’s. In addition, the video contains a violent scene. It might have a bad effect for the audience, and it will be possible that we should censor it.
