Working on Thanksgiving Day

I read an article of “Pizza Hut” this week.

A man was fired after he mentioned about the holidays and hierarchical system of the company, Pizza Hut, however the company said that he was not fired but quit. He was not sure he wanted to return to the work even if he can.

Thanksgiving Day is one of holidays in the U.S. and most of shops are closed. I think this day is important for people and staying with their family is better for them. Holiday might be a good time to make profit for companies, but it also means the holiday is busy so employees should be taken care of. Because of this trouble, the man might worry about human relationships at work, so making decision is difficult for him to return or not to the work right away. It seems so hard to work at such as the place, and if possible, I do not want to work such this workplace. I felt that human relationships affect our mind and work so much.

Now, I have questions.

1.    If you asked to work on holidays, would you work that day?

2.    How much human relationship at your workplace do you think affect your work?
