Chaos in Syria

I read an article about the chaos in Syria on BBC this week.
It is revealed that the rebel forces in Syria killed as many as 190 civilians and seized more than 200 hostages during the military offensive in August. The rebels and the Syrian government forces have been accused of abuses.
We live peacefully and live without this kind of threats where you could be injured, wounded or killed all of a sudden. Actually, I hardly realize that a war is taking place in a country on the same planet. Guns, rocket launchers, or tanks are completely out of our reach in Japan. I wish there were no such firearms in the world. If so, not so many people would be in danger. It is impossible to completely eliminate those weapons from the earth, but we should consider the issues a worldwide problem, and all nations on earth should pay careful attention and try to resolve the weapon control case.

Q1. What would you do if you were terrorized by somebody/something under the circumstances where a weapon is in your reach? Why?
Q2. If you are participating in a demonstration that could end up being violent, would you bring weapons?
